June 2013 - Stefan Botezatu, Partner and head of Kinstellar’s Energy practice in Bucharest, spoke at the conference “The Truth about Energy” organised by the monthly business magazine Romanian Business Digest on 25 June 2013 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Bucharest.
The conference focused on two main themes: the challenges of shaping Romania’s future energy policy, and financing Romania’s energy future.
Invited panellists included a range of experts in Romania, including representatives of leading energy companies, banks, transaction advisors and government agencies. The debates focused on both conventional and renewable sources of energy and recent legislative changes affecting the energy sector, with an emphasis on the need for predictability required by investors in energy projects.
In his presentation, Stefan Botezatu gave an overview of recent legislative decisions impacting the energy sector in Romania and outlined the medium- and long-term effects of legislative changes on the renewable energy sector. He reviewed Romania’s energy strategy through 2020 and raised questions concerning the overall effectiveness of the current strategy and what might lie ahead. He also outlined possible future legislation and environmental policy decisions in Romanian and stressed the need for more predictability.
The event, which was conducted in the English language, was well attended by members of Bucharest’s business community with an interest in the energy sector.
