June 2013 - Kinstellar’s Budapest office co-hosted a general counsel breakfast with KPMG on 13 June 2013 for local general counsel of major companies and banks in Hungary.
More than 40 local general counsel and in-house compliance specialists representing leading multinationals and banks in Hungary attended the event, including GE, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Sanofi-Aventis, Raiffeisen Bank, OTP Bank, MOL Hungarian Oil & Gas Company, E.On, GM/Chevrolet, TEVA Pharmaceuticals, Provident Financial, Suzuki Motors, Mercedes-Benz/Daimler, Magyar Telekom and T-Systems (Deutsche Telekom affiliates), ERSTE Bank and the Hungarian Banking Association.
Three lawyers from Kinstellar’s Budapest office made presentations during the event. Gábor Antal (Managing Associate) spoke about the ongoing developments and enforcement trends of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the UK Bribery Act and the related implications in Hungary.
Edina Schweizer (Managing Associate) gave a presentation on the latest developments of the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and its implications for Hungarian financial services providers in Hungary. Dávid Klacsmann (Associate) spoke about the latest international and Hungarian developments regarding data protection and privacy at the workplace.
Representing KPMG, György Antalóczy, Manager and Head of Forensic Services in Budapest, gave a presentation on the practical implications of internal investigations.
The presentations were followed by a lively Q&A session with the speakers and guest panellists including the local general counsel from GE and Mercedes-Benz.
