February 2015 - Kamil Blažek, partner at Kinstellar’s Prague office and Chairman, of Association for Foreign Investment spoke at the business seminar “Invest in the Czech Republic, Your Gateway to Europe” held in Seoul. The event was opened by Czech Prime Minister Mr. Bohuslav Sobotka and Kinstellar was a co-organizer.
Kamil Blažek spoke about investment opportunities, an environment and a legal framework for investment and acquisitions in the Czech Republic.
On the occasion of the seminar Korea and the Czech Rebublic signed a strategic partnership agreement. The Republic of Korea is an important partner of the Czech Republic in the Asian region. According to the Government Office, South Korea is the Czech Republic's third biggest business partner outside Europe and a significant source of investments in the Czech economy. Korea is one of the major investors in the Czech Republic.
Kinstellar’s team has already successfully completed a major foreign direct investment project, advising South Korea’s Hyundai Mobis on the negotiation and conclusion of an investment agreement with the Government of the Czech Republic in support of a new automotive headlight plant in the Mošnov industrial zone. Hyundai Mobis’ investment totals CZK 4 billion (more than EUR 145 million). Kinstellar represented also Korean Nexen in the negotiation of its investment agreement with the Czech Republic (investment of more than CZK 22 billion (more than EUR 800 million).
Kinstellar’s team has extensive experience in advising on foreign direct investments. The team also advised on the largest South Korean investments in the region in recent years, including Hyundai Motors Corporation’s greenfield automotive assembly plant in the Czech Republic, Kia Motors’ investment in a greenfield automotive assembly plant in Slovakia and Hankook Tire’s investment in a manufacturing plant in Hungary.
