September 2014 - The most important economic and political debate in Central Europe took place in Krynica, Poland between 2 – 4 September 2014. Over 3,000 delegates from Europe, Asia, the United States and Russia (including 500 journalists and 150 editors) attended the event which theme this year was "The Post-Crisis World – Time of New Leaders".
Kamil Blažek, partner at Kinstellar Prague and the Chairman of the Czech Association for Foreign Investment, moderated a panel discussion entitled “Emerging Europe – Investing and Policy Trends” and comprising István Szőke (CVC Capital Partners, UK), Karolina Zelawska-Palasz (EIB), Carlos Sanchez Pavon (ProMexico), Petr Kovac (C Corporate Finance), Christopher Dembik (Saxo Banque), Ivan Takev (Bulgarian Stock Exchange) and Petr Koblic (CEE Stock Exchange).
The discussions tackled investment trends in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets and foreign direct investment, with particular attention being paid to the Baltics, Central Europe and the Balkan countries. In the field of M&A, a significant increase of local buyers has been noted over the past five years which makes several of its countries no longer “emerging” in M&A terms but reaching Western European levels. A great level of interest has been also registered from Asian investors, especially from Japan, Korea and China. The FDI seg ment shows a strong trend in “emerging to emerging” investment projects – either through expansions or relocations.
