Akezhan Mukhambetzhanov is a Junior Associate in the Almaty office. He focuses on Banking, Finance & Capital Markets, M&A/Corporate and Data & Cybersecurity.

Akezhan has experience supporting cross-border financing and capital markets transactions, including sovereign and quasi-sovereign bond issuances listed on major international exchanges. He advises clients on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and post-transaction integration matters in both Kazakhstan and the AIFC.

His M&A experience includes involvement in significant transactions in the banking and financial services sector, where he assisted with legal due diligence, structuring, and regulatory filings. He has also participated in the transformation and restructuring of financial institutions, including the conversion of non-bank financial institutions into licensed banks.

In the area of personal data, Akezhan regularly advises multinational companies, including major consumer brands and digital platforms, on cross-border data transfers, compliance with local legislation, and internal data governance policies.

He is also active in advising clients on digital assets and the legal framework governing cryptocurrencies and tokenized products in Kazakhstan, including licensing matters within the AIFC.
