Associate, Cross-Border Litigation and Arbitration – Ukraine
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Сross-Border Litigation and Arbitration Associate to join our Dispute Resolution team in Ukraine.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex cross-border disputes, involving foreign courts, multi-jurisdictional proceedings, arbitration proceedings, and exposure to international clients. You will support Partners and senior lawyers in managing high-profile cross-border litigation and arbitration matters and contribute to the development of litigation strategies across jurisdictions.
As an Associate in the Dispute Resolution team, you will be involved in all stages of dispute resolution, from legal analysis and drafting to coordination with foreign counsel and enforcement of judgments. The role requires strong analytical skills, excellent legal drafting in English, and the ability to work effectively in an international environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development and implementation of litigation strategies in cross-border and multi-jurisdictional disputes;
- Conducting legal research and analysis of foreign substantive and procedural law, including jurisdiction and conflict-of-laws issues;
- Drafting and reviewing pleadings, submissions, legal memoranda, motions, and procedural documents in English;
- Coordinating work with foreign counsel, international law firms, experts, and local advisers in different jurisdictions;
- Assisting with evidence collection, disclosure and discovery processes, including common law discovery procedures;
- Supporting hearings before foreign courts and international tribunals, including preparation of hearing bundles and chronologies;
- Assisting with recognition and enforcement of foreign court judgments and arbitral awards, including interim measures and asset tracing;
- Maintaining regular communication with clients regarding case progress, risks, timelines, and costs.
Key skills and experience required:
- Law degree from a recognized university and qualification to practice law;
- Minimum 3 year experience in dispute resolution, litigation or arbitration (international exposure is an advantage);
- Strong knowledge of civil and commercial litigation procedures;
- Excellent legal research, analytical and drafting skills;
- Fluent English, both written and spoken;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work effectively in a team-oriented environment;
- Strong client-service mindset and attention to detail;
- Admission to the bar in Ukraine or admission in progress required.
