Zdeněk Kučera, head of our TMT and litigation practices in Prague, speaks at Internet Governance Forum in Warsaw

November 2017 - Zdeněk Kučera, the head of our TMT and litigation practices in Prague, spoke at the Internet Governance Forum in Warsaw on 21 November, an open platform of dialogue for everyone interested in shaping the future of the Internet and the way it functions.

Participants discussed various hot topics related to the digital data-based economy, 5G networks, FinTech, digital skills, issues of personal data economic value, internet site blocking, intermediaries’ responsibility for online content as well as the future of collective copyright management.

Zdeněk shared his views on website blocking, citing as an example the blocking provisions contained in the Czech Act on Gambling. He also commented other EU proposals for blocking, including a proposed regulation on cooperation between national authorities responsible for the enforcement of consumer protection laws.

The Forum was organised in cooperation with the Ministry of National Development of Hungary, the Czech Telecommunication Office, the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for Investments and Informatization of the Slovak Republic and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN: www.icann.org). Key internet business players, as well as representatives of state administrations participated in the Forum. Other speakers included: Jaromír Novák, Chairman of the Council of the Czech Telecommunication Office and Ondřej Malý, Digital Agenda Coordinator of the Czech Government.
