Denise R Hamer is a Special Counsel and the head of the firm’s C/SEE Asset Solutions and the co-head of the firm's C/SEE Restructuring and Insolvency services, with a regional role covering Central and Eastern Europe and South Eastern Europe (C/SEE).

Denise focuses on non-performing and non-core assets of all classes, including real estate, financial (including NPLs), and corporate, including sale, acquisition, restructuring, refinancing, recapitalising, and repositioning, as well as other transactional work.


  • NOVA LJUBLJANSKA BANKA, Slovenia’s largest banking group, on the acquisition of Komercijalna Banka, Serbia’s largest state-owned bank, in Serbia’s largest financial sector privatisation
  • KA FINANZ, wind down entity and legal successor to Austria’s Kommunalkredit infrastructure bank, on the the restructuring and transfer of distressed loans
  • EXOTIX CAPITAL, an illiquid asset broker, as Ukrainian law advisor and expert witness testifying in a successful English High Court of Justice proceeding concerning a complex allocation of liability under LMA contracts in a Ukrainian distressed loan trade
  • REVETAS CAPITAL, a C/SEE distressed asset investment fund, on the acquisition of a real estate portfolio located in Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and Poland
  • BLACKSTONE GROUP led consortium (including EOS, HIG, and AnaCap) on the acquisition of a EUR 3.6 billion NPL portfolio and servicing unit of Erste Group's Romanian Bank, BCR
  • TRUSTEE in financial, operational, and legal restructuring of portfolio of marquee Serbian consumer brand companies
  • INVESTORS in financial, corporate, hospitality, and real estate assets in Serbia, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary and Ukraine
  • CREDITORS in the restructuring of Balkan regional brewery group, Pivovarna Lasko; Slovenian tourism, media and real estate conglomerate, Istrabenz; bonds of Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ);  and Portuguese bank, Banco Espirito Santo
  • GREEK FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS on the sale of non-core C/SEE financial assets and SOUTH AFRICAN REITS on the acquisition of C/SEE retail assets
